Remote Viewing and DISH Remote Access
Remote Viewing on a PC/laptop
To start using your ViP®922′s remote viewing and DISH Remote Access capabilities, follow these simple steps:
- Log-in to your DISHNetwork.com online account
Don’t have an online account? Create one here - Select the DISH Remote Access option (under My Account)from the menu on the left
Note: First-time users will be required to accept the
DISH Remote Access Terms and Conditions agreement,
as well as provide a valid birth date - Following a successful connection,
DISH Remote Access will now beavailable for use
- Select the Watch Live TV option and follow the
on-screen instructions to download and install
the required plug-in
Note: If you have multiple DISH Remote Access-capable receivers on your account, make
sure to select the ViP®922 receiver from the drop-down list
(You can always find your receiver number by pressing MENU
twice from your remote)
Remote Viewing on a supported mobile device
To start streaming video content to your supported mobile device, refer to Steps 1-3 above in addition to following:
- Select the Go Mobile option
- Verify your mobile device is compatible
- Create a Sling accountNote: The email address used to log-in to your DISH Network online account will automatically be used for your Sling account
- Download SlingPlayer Mobile using the on-screen instructions for your specific mobile device
- Log-in to SlingPlayer Mobile and begin enjoying streaming content on your mobile device
Quick Clicks
In addition to the four “Favorites” lists you can create through the Electronic Program Guide (EPG), Quick Clicks provides an additional list that can store up to 15 channels.
To manage your Quick Clicks:
- Press the GREEN on your remote while watching live TV
- Search for your desired channels, either by channel number or alphabetically
- Press the plus sign (+) on the channel you want to add to your Quick Clicks list, or
- Press the minus sign (-) on the channel you want to remove from your Quick Clicks list
External Hard Drives
To transfer your external hard drive content:
- Go to Main Menu and select the My Media Transfer tile
- Highlight and select the USB device listed on the screen
- Select the events you wish to transfer
- Select Transfer
- Select Yes on Pop Up 1006 to begin transfer process
Home Media
Use your ViP®922 to enjoy personal photos, music and video content instantly on your TV! Just connect a DLNA-supported device — like your digital camera or personal computer — to the same network as your ViP®922 and get instant access to all compatible home media.
Note: Streaming video content is not currently supported
To access your Home Media:
- Press MENU on your remote
- Select Home Media
- Choose any supported media content currently on your network and view it instantly on your TV
- If you add something new, just select Refresh to reload the screen
Home Theater Setup
Setting up your remote control to work with the rest of your audio/video equipment is simple. Your ViP®922 receiver can either lookup your device’s code in its extensive database or you can manually add it if you have it handy.
To program additional devices in your Remote Control:
- Press MENU on your remote
- Select Settings, then Remote Control
- Depending on the type of device being programmed, choose either TV Code, DVD Code or AUX Code
- If you don’t know your device’s code, select Lookup Code
- Use the Sort By function to quickly browse to your device’s brand (i.e., Samsung), choose it and select Next
- Test each available code until the remote control properly operates your selected device
- Once you’ve determined the correct code, select Yes to store it on the main Remote Control page
Parental Controls
The ViP®922 receiver is equipped with V-chip technology, which allows you to block television programming based on specific ratings categories (there are also separate locks for Adult and Pay-Per-View content).
Take advantage of the ViP®922′s preset locks (high, medium and low restriction) or set your own custom restrictions. You can also export settings to a PC or mobile device in order to restrict remote viewing.
How to setup Parental Controls:
- Press MENU on your remote
- Select Settings, then Parental Controls
- Select the Restrictions option
- Choose between three preset restriction levels (high, medium, low), or select Custom to set your own restriction levels from the following settings:
- Hide Adult Channels
- Require Password for Pay-Per-View
- Restrict Movie ratings (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17)
- Restrict Channels
- Restrict Content (Language, Nudity, Violence, Sexual Content)
- Copy Controls for Remote Viewing (PC/Mobile)
- Select Back to return to the main Parental Controls screen
- Turn your restrictions ON through the Parental Controls option
- Using the number pad on your remote, enter a four-digit password that will be used to protect unwanted changes to your settings
- Select Save to remember your preferencesNote: Settings will not be saved unless Save is selected
System Wizard
The System Wizard allows you to backup and restore your ViP®922 receiver and remote control settings.
To backup your ViP®922 receiver and remote control’s System Settings:
- Press MENU on your remote
- Select Settings, then System Wizard
- Select Backup
- Select Home to return to the System Wizard screen or Retry to run the System Wizard again
To restore your ViP®922 receiver or remote control’s Saved Settings:
- Press MENU on your remote
- Select Settings, then System Wizard
- Select Restore
- Select Remote to restore its receiver settings
- Select Receiver to update its stored remote control information
Note: The receiver will restart after the update process has been completed

To access your ViP®922 receiver’s User Guide:
- Press MENU on your remote
- Select Help
- Choose a category

- Video: Video overviews highlighting general functionality
- Troubleshooting: Basic instructions to help resolve common issues
Broadband Setup
In order to get the most out of your ViP®922 receiver and its remote viewing capabilities, it must be connected to a home network that accesses a broadband internet connection.
To test your ViP®922 receiver’s home network connection:
- Ensure your home internet connection is functioning properly. If none of your currently networked devices can access the internet, you should troubleshoot your home network first
- Press MENU on your remote
- Select Broadband Setup and verify the Connection Status shows “Connected” (green icon)
- If the Connection Status shows “Not Connected” (red icon), there is most likely a problem with your ViP®922′s network connection
- Select Reset Connection
- Reset your ViP®922 receiver by unplugging it from the power outlet for 30 seconds
- Plug the ViP®922 receiver back in, wait for it to reboot, and re-run the Broadband Setup
- If the Connection Status still shows “Not Connected”, contact your internet service provider or consult your network router’s help documentation for additional support
